Faulty contraceptive pill implant compensation specialists
The National Health Service began the use of a new type of contraceptive implant (sometimes referred to as a "pill implant") called 'Implanon'. Implanon is designed to gradually release the hormone progesterone over a 3 year period to guard again pregnancy.
Although Implanon has been 99% effective in the UK, there have been widespread reports of the implant failing; leading to the NHS paying out over £200,000 in compensation to women who have either fallen pregnant as a result of the implant failing or left with scarring. On 5th January 2011, Telegraph.co.uk reported that there have been "a total of 1,607 complaints about scarring and other problems associated with the device".
Implanon has was replaced in 2010 by 'Nexplanon'. It is commonly prescribed to young women under the age of 16 not deemed responsible enough to remember to take oral contraceptives on a daily basis.
Can I claim compensation?
Compensation has been paid by the NHS to women who have unwantingly fallen pregant. In some cases marraiges have broken down as a result of the unwated pregancy. In addition there have been reports of some women being left with scarring as a result of the implant being inserted incorrectly and also complication caused by the implant migrating (moving).
